Detailed Description
Sharing incredible resolving power and lightweight portability, X-T5 and XF16-80mmF4 are a match made in creative heaven
Following closely in the footsteps of FUJIFILM X-H2, X-T5 marks the second X Series camera to exceed 40 megapixels. With a stripped-back, stills-focused form factor, creative potential is broader than ever. When it comes to image quality, Fujifilm’s signature analogue filmic look is retained, with an astounding level of added detail. Should more ever be needed, simply engage Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode for 160-megapixel images.
FUJINON XF16-80mmF4 R OIS WR’s advanced optical design makes it the perfect companion for creatives using X-T5, across a wealth of genres. Field curvature and spherical aberration are effectively reduced, thanks to 16 elements in 12 groups – including one ED aspherical and three aspherical elements.
X-T5’s back-illuminated sensor is joined by X-Processor 5, combining to enable a host of exceptional features. A previously extended ISO 125 is now native, while shutter speeds extend to 1/180,000 sec. Even in the brightest conditions, fast apertures remain in play.
In more dimly lit settings, or for rapid handheld photography, seven-stops of IBIS are sure to mean fewer missed frames. Despite the five-axis stabilising structure, X-T5’s size and weight remain conveniently low. In fact, it’s smaller than its predecessor and weighs just 557g. Balanced beautifully alongside XF16-80mmF4’s 440g, the complete kit comes in at less than 1kg. Tactile, external controls and programmable buttons are present on the camera body, as ever – joined by a 3.69 million dot EVF and 1.84 million dot, three-way tilting LCD. Both camera and lens are even ruggedly weather sealed.
Creation is supported further by cutting-edge deep learning technology. Automatic white balance has seen a significant boost in accuracy – as has autofocus performance. A wide range of subjects, including faces, animals and vehicles, can be detected and tracked without disruption. In AF-S mode, high-frequency targets are easier to lock onto than ever.
While some post-production work is a crucial part of any advanced image maker’s process, a streamlined workflow is never amiss. Advanced X-T5 features, like Smooth Skin Effect, complete essential post steps in-camera. There are also 19 Film Simulation modes to choose from, including Nostalgic Neg., for gorgeous JPEGs – though HEIF image format is also available, for 10-bit quality in a 30% smaller file.
Despite a stills focus, X-T5’s video capabilities are nothing less than professional. Hybrid or dedicated video creatives can rely upon 6.2K 30P internal recording, in 4:2:2 10-bit colour. When less is more, try oversampled 4K HQ footage. There’s also a new F-Log2 with 13+ stops of dynamic range and 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW external recording.

Lightweight, high performance
X-T5 features a five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system that provides up to 7.0 stops of compensation and a 3.69 million dot EVF with an 0.8x magnification ratio. Despite this, the camera body only weighs 557g (1.23lb). Dials and buttons provide easy operation, letting life’s most precious moments stand a chance of being documented to see another day.
Three-way tilting LCD
A three-way tilting LCD offers enhanced versatility, particularly when working at waist level or in portrait orientation. The combination of tilting LCD and center viewfinder aligns the lens, camera, and photographer on the optical axis, for a more comfortable and intuitive image-making experience.
FILM SIMULATION
19 Film Simulation modes inside of X-T5 digitally replicate the look of the classic photographic film stocks developed by Fujifilm for over 85 years. Reproduce the classic colors and tones that Fujifilm are known for, or add an artistic flair and start to Build Your Legacy.
White Balance
Fine adjustments can be made to Auto White Balance (AWB) by selecting one of three modes: Auto, White Priority, and Ambience Priority. Set to White Priority, white is more likely to be reproduced as white under incandescent lighting. However, when Ambience Priority is set, scenes will be photographed with the natural lighting characteristics of the scene preseved. Under incandescent lighting, this will generally result in images with warmer white tones.
