Summertime is perfect for the pocket camera. Canon knows this, which is why it has just released the updated PowerShot SX740 HS Digital Camera. Slim and small, the SX740 still manages to feature a 20.3MP 1/2.3” CMOS sensor and a 24-960mm (35mm-equivalent) zoom lens. This is similar to its predecessor, but where it gets better is with the use of the DIGIC 8 Image Processor. This technology speeds up overall performance of the camera, including the enabling of 4K video recording and 4K Time-lapse Movie.

With a long 40x optical zoom range, Canon made sure to use an Optical Image Stabilizer to ensure sharp images at longer focal lengths. A Zoom Framing Assist function also makes it easier to shoot fast moving subject by automatically zooming the lens to keep the subject in the frame and in focus. The SX740 HS is quick, as well, with continuous shooting at up to 7.4 fps or up to 10 fps with AF Lock. Sensitive to ISO 3200, it will perform well under a variety of lighting conditions and its multiple shooting modes allow users to tailor their shots, depending upon their subject.

Handling of the camera remains simple and intuitive with a 3.0″ LCD that can be tilted upwards 180° for selfies. For immediate sharing, the camera has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for direct connection to a smartphone for transferring images. The camera will be available in Black or Silver.
